This guided camping safari is for the adventurous and takes you over dusty, extreme tracks into one of the most remote and pristine areas of Namibia – the Kaokoveld.
Highlights of this safari are the game drives to desert elephants and the search for rare desert lions.

This area can be visited only with the appropriate knowledge, well-planned, reliable equipment and should be driven with two off-road vehicles.

Tag 1 Ankunft: Windhoek - Kamanjab

Welcome to Namibia!

After arrival at Windhoek International Airport – if possible arrival should be in the morning, – you will be met by your German-speaking Rafiki-X-Dream tour guide, then the drive continues to Kamanjab to the Porkupine Camp, where we can experience the nocturnal porcupines feeding in the evening (this is unique in Namibia).

Tag 2: Kamanjab - Kunene Fluss

Today we start from Kamanjab, via Ruacana over dusty tracks to the beautiful landscape of the Kunene River. This is the border river with Angola and our northernmost point.

Tag 3: Kunene - Epupa

We drive along the beautiful landscape of the Kunenerivers via Swartbooisdrift, past the Zebra Mountains into the Kaokoveld to the Epupa Waterfalls. With a loud roar, the floods plunge 50 meters into the depths. Our camp is picturesquely situated under palm trees, directly at the falls. Enjoy your sundowner overlooking the waterfall.

Tag 4: Epupa

We stay in Epupa. Today you will visit a traditional Ovahimba village and walk along the Kunene River, with some luck you will see hippos and crocodiles. We spend the rest of the day relaxing and swimming in the natural pools (is only possible in designated places, because there are crocodiles) or in the pool of the campsite.

Tag 5: Epupa - Orupempe

Today the journey goes through the capital of the Ovahimbas – Opuwo – in the direction of Puros. We will spend the night in the wild today at a suitable spot in the bush.

Tag 6: Orupempe - Puros

Now the real off-road adventure begins and it gets really dusty. We enter the riverbed of the Hoarusib River. A variety of free-ranging animals such as desert elephants, giraffes, springboks, oryx antelopes, kudus and mountain zebras are possible. After an adventurous drive we will reach the wild and romantic camp in Puros in the afternoon.

Tag 7: Puros

We do extensive game drives through the Hourasib riverbed, we meet giraffes and antelopes. Encounters with desert elephants and desert lions are possible, with good luck we will also find rare rhinos.

Tag 8: Puros - Hoanib Flussbett

Today we drive from Puros over lonely and extreme off-road tracks, over the mountains and the high plateau to the second favorite area of the desert lions and desert elephants, the sandy Hoanib River (dry river) with its numerous wildlife. It is one of the last free animal paradises. At a suitable place the bush camp is pitched and today wildly romantic camped in the wilderness.

Tag 9: Hoanib Flussbett - Ongongo Wasserfall

We leave the Hoanib and drive to Sesfontein, there we can visit the old German fort and then continue to the Ongongo waterfall a small paradise in the dusty Kaokoveld. Here we can refresh ourselves under the waterfall.

Tag 10: Ongongo - Twyfelfontein

We drive through the impressive mountains of Damaraland to Twyfelfontein. There we visit the ancient, famous Bushman rock paintings (UNESCO World Heritage Site of Humanity)

Tag 11: Twyfelfontein - Brandberg

Over dusty tracks we drive to the highest mountain in Namibia, the Brandberg. Here you can enjoy the sundowner at the pool of the White Lady Camp at the Ugab.

Tag 12: Brandberg

We stay at the Brandberg, there you can visit the White Lady (a famous bushman drawing) during a hike up the Brandberg today and with a little luck you can meet the rare desert elephants once again during a game drive in the Ugab River.

Tag 13: Brandberg - Omaruru

From our camp at Brandberg we continue to Omaruru. Here, if you wish, you can visit the historic Franke Tower, Paul’s unique root wood carving workshop, as well as the Winery. At the end of the safari there will be a dinner together in the restaurant.
