This guided camping safari takes you to the green, water-rich Zambezi region – Caprivi tip of Namibia with its numerous national parks, to the Chobe National Park in Botswana, to the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and to the fascinating Okavango Delta. The Kavango, Kwando, Zambezi and Chobe rivers will be visited.

Tag 1 Ankunft: Windhoek - Omaruru

Welcome to Namibia!

Arrival at Windhoek International Airport, here you will be met by your German-speaking Rafiki-X-Dream tour guide, then the drive through Windhoek (shopping is still possible here) to Omaruru. Omaruru is considered to be the “artist town” of Namibia. At the common sundowner and dinner under shady acacia trees still open questions can be clarified.

Tag 2: Omaruru - Grootfontein

From Omaruru we drive via Otjiwarongo towards Grootfontein. If there is interest, we can visit the farm Tonningii. This is a family run winery in the picturesque Otavi Mountains. Here a guided tour of Namibian vineyards followed by wine tasting will take place. Towards late afternoon, the journey continues into Bushmanland. There we reach our accommodation around 17.00.

Tag 3: Buschmannland

Today we go to Grashoek, here in the Bushmanland the Bushmen (San) give in a traditional Living Museum, an insight into the daily life, the life and the traditions of the Bushmen. Back at our accommodation we have time to relax.

Tag 4: Grootfontein - Divundu

The drive takes us further to the northeast, after the veterinary fence we reach “wild Namibia”. Near Divundu, in the Mobola Lodge of Alex and Maja, directly at the Kavango – River, we stay for 3 nights. We enjoy our sundowner at the bar – on an island in the Kavango.

Tag 5: Buffalo Nationalpark

Early in the morning we will take a game drive into the nearby Buffalo National Park, known for its large herds of buffalo and numerous waterfowl. With a little luck we can also see sable antelopes and the rare wild dogs.

Tag 6: Mahango Nationalpark

We will visit Mahango National Park on the border of Okavango Delta in the morning, later there will be an opportunity to relax by the pool and take advantage of optional activities such as: fishing, sundowner boat tour etc.

Tag 7: Divundu - Mudumu Nationalpark

From Divundu we drive through the new Bwabwata National Park to the Caprivi Strip (Zambezi Region) to our accommodation directly on the Kwando River. We stay overnight at a campsite directly at the Kwando River, here we stay for 2 nights. In the afternoon we go on a game drive in the Mudumu part of the Bwabwata National Park. With a little luck we will meet the huge herds of elephants that quench their thirst at the river here in the evening.

Tag 8: Bwabwata Nationalpark - Horseshoe

Today we go on a game drive in the Susuwe part of the Bwabwata National Park. At the famous Horseshoe of the Kwando River we have the opportunity to see elephants, hippos, crocodiles as well as countless antelopes. If we are interested and if we still have enough time, the Mafwe or Mashi tribe can be visited (optional). The Living Museum offers visitors an interesting insight into the life of these tribes. The museum consists of a traditionally built village. The focus of the presentation is to get to know their original way of life and pre-colonial culture.

Tag 9: Kongola - Vicfalls/ Zimbabwe

Today we cross two borders: At Katima Mulilo the border to Botswana, here we drive through a part of the famous Chobe National Park. Later we come to the border with Zimbabwe, so that we arrive at our destination, the small town of Vicfalls, at the Victoria Falls of the Zambezi River, around afternoon. After our arrival we will visit the gigantic Victoria Falls.
The first European to see Victoria Falls was the Scottish missionary and African traveler David Livingstone. Deeply impressed, he described the waterfall as “the most beautiful he had ever seen in Africa” and named it Victoria Falls, in honor of the then British royal Victoria. The native Kolo, however, call the waterfall Mosi-oa-Tunya (German: thundering smoke). The name refers to the water spray that rises from the falls at heights of up to 300 m and can still be seen up to 30 km away.

Tag 10: Vicfalls

This day is free for optional activities such as: White water rafting, bungee jumping, helicopter flights over the waterfalls and various other activities. Or take a trip back in time to the colonial era and enjoy a coffee or sundowner at the traditional Victoria Falls Hotel.

Tag 11: Vicfalls - Kasane/ Botswana

It’s back: we cross the border into Botswana and drive to the small town of Kasane. Kasane is located in the quadrangle of Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe on the Chobe River, which also forms the northeastern border of the Chobe National Park, and near the mouth of the Chobe River on the Zambezi River. Here you can enjoy your sundowner with a view over the Chobe.

Tag 12: Kasane - Chobe Nationalpark

In the famous, animal-rich Chobe National Park we undertake a game drive today. We hope to see elephants, hippos and with a little luck lions. For sundowner another highlight is on the program: a boat trip on the famous Chobe River (optional, highly recommended). From the boat there are unforgettable impressions of the African wildlife.

Tag 13: Kasane - Divundu/ Namibia

It’s back to Namibia again. In Katima Mulilo we fill up our supplies and drive through the Bwabwata National Park, to Divundu. Here are the Popa Falls, they are not so much waterfalls as rapids. The Okavango breaks through a 4 meter high rocky reef here in its riverbed, which is more than a kilometer wide at this point. A campsite at the Kavango is our accommodation, there is the possibility for a sundowner boat trip to the Popa waterfalls in the late afternoon (optional, highly recommended).

Tag 14: Divundu - Mahango Nationalpark

We stay one more day at our lodge at the Kavango. In the morning there is another gamedrive in the Mahango National Park at the border to the Okavango Delta. The afternoon is at leisure, for example. for relaxing at the pool or for boat trips on the Kavango.

Tag 15: Divundu - Okavango Delta/ Botswana

Today we travel to Botswana to the beautiful Okavango Delta. Here we stay for the next two nights in our camp at the Okavago Delta.

Tag 16: Okavango - Delta

We enjoy the day at the Okavango Delta. After breakfast, a full day boat ride into the Okavango Delta for game viewing.

Tag 17: Okavango Delta - Gobabis/ Namibia

It’s back to Namibia. Our accommodation is located in Namibia near the border.

Day 18: Gobabis - Windhoek

The safari is over. Drive to Windhoek International Airport and return flight to home country
