This guided camping safari takes you to the green, water-rich Zambezi region – formerly the Caprivi Strip – of Namibia with its numerous national parks, to Chobe National Park in Botswana, to the impressive Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and to the wildlife-rich Etosha National Park.

Tag 1 Ankunft: Windhoek - Omaruru
Welcome to Namibia!
Arrival at Windhoek International Airport, here you will be met by your German speaking Rafiki-X-Dream tour guide. Afterwards the journey goes through Windhoek (here, depending on the time of arrival, shopping is still possible) and then on to Omaruru. Omaruru, a small town on the edge of the Erongo Mountains, is considered the “artist town” of Namibia. During sundowner and dinner under shady acacia trees, open questions can be discussed.

Tag 2: Omaruru - Grootfontein
From Omaruru we drive via Otjiwarongo towards Grootfontein. If there is interest, we can visit the farm Tonningii. This is a family run winery in the picturesque Otavi Mountains. Here we can visit the vineyards and afterwards, if you wish, there will be a wine tasting. Towards late afternoon we continue our journey to Grootfontein.

Tag 3: Grootfontein - Divundu
The drive takes us further to the northeast, after the veterinary fence, we reach the “wild Namibia”. Near Divundu in the Mobola Lodge of Alex and Maja, directly at the Kavango River, we will set up our base for 3 nights. We enjoy our sundowner at the bar on the island in the Kavango.

Tag 4: Buffalo Nationalpark
In the morning we will visit Buffalo National Park, known for its large herds of buffalo, hippos and numerous waterfowl. With a little luck we can also see herds of sable antelope.

Tag 5: Mahango Nationalpark
Early in the morning we go on a game drive into the nearby Mahango National Park on the border of the Okavango Delta. Here you can see elephants, hippos and numerous antelopes. Under gigantic Baobab trees we have our lunch break. Later there is the opportunity to relax by the pool and take advantage of optional activities such as: fishing, sundowner boat tour, etc.

Tag 6: Divundu - Mudumu Nationalpark
From Divundu we drive through the new Bwabwata National Park to the Caprivi Strip (Zambezi Region) to our camp. We stay overnight at a campsite directly at the Kwando River, here we stay for 2 nights. In the afternoon we go on a game drive in the Mudumu part of the Bwabwata National Park. With a bit of luck we will meet large herds of elephants, which often quench their thirst at the river in the evening. In the evening we enjoy our sundowner with a view over the Kwando.

Tag 7: Bwabwata Nationalpark - Horseshoe
Today we go on a game drive in the Susuwe part of the Bwabwata National Park. At the famous Horseshoe of the Kwando River we have the opportunity to see elephants, hippos and crocodiles, as well as countless antelopes. If we are interested and have enough time, we can visit the Mafwe or Mashi tribe (optional). The Living Museum offers visitors an interesting insight into the life of these tribes. The museum consists of a traditionally built village. The focus of the presentation is to get to know their original way of life and pre-colonial culture.

Tag 8: Kongola - Vicfalls / Zimbabwe
Today we cross two borders: At Katima Mulio the border to Botswana, in transit we drive through the famous Chobe National Park. Later we reach the border to Zimbabwe, so that we arrive at our destination: the small town of Vicfalls at the Victoria Falls of the Zambezi River around afternoon. After our arrival you can visit the gigantic waterfalls. The first European to see Victoria Falls was the Scottish missionary and African traveler David Livingstone. Deeply impressed, he described the waterfall as “the most beautiful he had ever seen in Africa” and named it Victoria Falls, in honor of the then British royal Victoria. The native Kolo, however, call the waterfall Mosi-oa-Tunya (German: thundering smoke). The name refers to the water spray that rises from the falls at heights of up to 300 m and can still be seen up to 30 km away.

Tag 9: Vicfalls
This day in Vicfalls is at leisure to enjoy the offered (optional) activities such as: White water rafting, helicopter flying, bungee jumping, sundowner cruises on the Zambezi River and various other activities. Or take a trip back in time to the colonial era and enjoy a coffee or sundowner at the traditional Victoria Falls Hotel.

Tag 10: Vicfalls - Kasane / Botswana
It’s back: We cross the border into Botswana and drive to Kasane. Kasane is located in the quadrangle of Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe on the Chobe River, which also forms the northeastern boundary of Chobe National Park, and near where the Chobe River flows into the Zambezi River. Here we stay 2 nights in our camp.

Tag 11: Kasane - Chobe Nationalpark
Today we drive to the famous Chobe National Park. During the gamedrive we hope to see elephants, hippos, and with a little luck, lions. For sundowner another highlight is on the program: a boat tour on the famous Chobe River (optional, highly recommended). From the boat there are unforgettable impressions of the African wildlife.

Tag 12: Kasane - Divundu / Namibia
We drive back to Namibia. In Katima Mulilo we replenish our supplies and continue through the Bwabwata National Park to Divundu. Near the village of Divundu, lie the Popa Falls, which are not so much waterfalls as rapids. The Okavango River breaks through a 4 meter high rocky reef into a riverbed that is more than a kilometer wide at this point. A camp at the Kavango is our accommodation, there is the possibility for a sundowner boat trip to the Popa Falls in the late afternoon (optional, highly recommended), or you can enjoy the day at the pool.

Tag 13: Divundu - Grootfontein
Today we have a longer driving distance ahead of us. We drive back to the Grootfontein area.

Tag 14: Buschmannland- Etosha Nationalpark
Early in the morning we go to Grashoek, here in the Bushmanland, the Bushmen (San) give an insight into the daily life and traditions of the Bushmen in a traditional Living Museum. Afterwards we drive to Etosha National Park.

Tag 15: Etosha Nationalpark
We leave our camp in the morning and go on a game drive in Etosha National Park. The Etosha Pan is a salt pan of vast proportions in the 22,00 km² game-rich national park. On the game drive south, past countless water holes, you will have good opportunities to see zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, elephant, antelope and with a little luck lion and rhino. At Camp Halali in the southeastern part of the national park we will spend tonight in the national park. In Halali it is worth visiting the illuminated waterhole. Here, herds of elephants can often be observed at close range.

Tag 16: Etosha Nationalpark
Today we visit the southern part of Etosha National Park. From Halali we will go on a final gamedrive to Okaukuejo. Enjoy your last game drive in Etosha National Park.

Tag 17: Etosha Nationalpark - Omaruru
The safari is coming to an end. In the afternoon we drive back to Omaruru. Here we stay the last night and let the safari come to an end.

Day 18: Omaruru - Windhoek
The safari is over, the drive goes to Windhoek to Hosea Kutako Airport and return flight to Germany
