Dear Safari Friends

Ever since I can remember, my heart has been beating for Africa. Growing up in a small village near Nuremberg, I traveled Africa early on with my self-rebuilt BMW motorcycle. The highlight was an Africa crossing in 1992 with our BMW – sidecar – machines. At the latest when we crossed the Congo, where we were stuck in the mud for days, it became clear to me: we need a bigger vehicle! During my engineering studies I built my expedition truck, a Magirus, and finally arrived in Namibia in 2001 after graduation. Here I met my wife Silke in 2002 on the farm Daktari near Otjiwarongo.

Since that time we have lived together in Namibia and have traveled countless times, sometimes alone or together with friends and acquaintances, through southern Africa to Tanzania and Uganda.

2010 after more and more acquaintances and friends came to visit, we decided to make our hobby our profession. In 2011 we founded, together with Reinhard Rupprecht, Rafiki X-Dream Safaris to show other Africa lovers our new home Namibia. In 2016 Reinhard decided to discontinue Rafiki X-Dream Safaris in Germany, so we currently offer our trips directly.

We are always impressed by the magnificent, diverse landscapes, the friendly people and the great abundance of animals.

Where else but in Namibia are there elephants and lions that are not locked up in parks?

Since we are adventurers, we offer tours to the most remote areas, which you can hardly explore without an experienced, local tour guide.

We are proud that many of our guests have become regular customers – and friends.

As a Namibian tour and safari company we are registered with the Namibian Tourism Board under the number TSO0119.

By the way: Rafiki means friend in Swahili,

this is also our motto for our guests:

“We want you to feel like you’re with friends.”

Your Harry Wedel
